COVID-19 Safety Rules for:

All AYSO COACHES/ASSISTANT COACHES

  • Must be appropriately certified in AYSO Safe Haven, CDC Concussion Awareness Training, and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training.
  • Must be trained, and will have access to the Health and Safety manual with specific guidelines for maintaining a safe training environment.
  • Must not allow mixing of players not assigned to the team.
  • Will be provided a replenishable PPE Kit per team (a personal cloth mask, hand sanitizer, gloves, disinfectant and touchless thermometer). Coaches must only use these products for their team and team’s equipment.
  • Will perform a temperature check for each player upon arrival at field.
  • Will keep an attendance record.
  • Must not share training equipment. Coaches will store and bring this equipment to each session and must disinfect all training equipment, including player-provided soccer balls, before and after each practice session to protect players and themselves.
  • Must carry a paper copy of every player’s medical release form at all times.
  • Are required to wear a cloth mask or face covering and maintain social distancing at all times when present at the fields of play or when in the presence of their team members, parents or other volunteers, at all AYSO events.
  • Should model and enforce all rules of no physical contact with or amongst players (high fives, hugs, etc.), maintenance of physical distancing, and compliance with all safety measures.
  • Will be the only persons handling training equipment (balls, cones, etc.) and will not let players touch these items with their hands.
  • Will personally answer the COVID-19 Questionnaire and check their own temperature prior to arrival at the field for every practice or AYSO event.  If a coach is positive for any symptoms or meets other exposure criteria, the coach must NOT go to the field, and practice can be led by the assistant coach or cancelled if there is no assistant coach. If a coach tests positive for COVID-19 or has been exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual, the coach must immediately notify the Regional Commissioner at [email protected].
  • If you are informed that a team player has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been exposed to a COVID-19 positive individual, the coach must immediately notify the Regional Commissioner at [email protected]. The confidentiality of the exposed player must be maintained. The RC will inform players of a possible COVID-19 exposure and if practices need to be cancelled. The coach will be required to file an incident report.

Be a positive role model, and create a safe and fun environment in our new normal!
