Redwood City AYSO

Redwood City AYSO Fall 2021 FAQ’s

Q) So this will be actual soccer? Not some socially-distanced practice-only season?

A) Yes – our plan is for actual soccer. A traditional season with practices, scrimmages, games, and for the older ages the usual end-of-season tournaments. All of this is optimism is based on the current Orange Tier in San Mateo County and the downward trajectory of COVID in our community. If that reverses significantly, we will follow the state and county guidance.

Q) What does pre-registration mean?

A) It means that your child will be one of the first on the list when we open registration. For now, you do not need to make payment and should you decide for whatever reason not to participate prior to making payment, there is not penalty to you. We are using this to gauge how many players we will have participating this coming year.

Q) Will there be in-person registration days like last year?

A) We had planned on in-person registration at the beginning of May but that is now seeming unlikely as the parks department has not yet approved any facilities for that type of face-to-face public gatherings. We’re going to continue to try to adapt to meet all our players’ and families’ needs as best we can.

Q) What are the important dates I should plan for?

A) Roughly we are planning on practices starting in August, first games in September, and season end in November. There is some slight variation for the youngest and oldest divisions.

Q) How much is it?

A) Only $160 for months of fun. Seriously, it’s the best deal out there (thanks to all our wonderful volunteers)! If needed, we do offer financial aid for qualifying families.

Q) Volunteer you say?

A) Yes! Please! We are a 100% volunteer organization and ALWAYS need more people. Whether it’s coaching, assisting, refereeing, team parent, or helping with field setup and tear down – we need you. As a parent of two eye-rolling teenagers, I can tell you that the times we spent on the field playing together and having fun (I mean coaching) are some of my favorites. We offer training, resources, and support – raise your hand and help make this all happen! Click here to add your name to our volunteer list – no obligation – just saying you’re interested.
