U12 Tournament - 2008 (last update: 7/31/08 @ 10:00 PM)
Please be sure to read ALL of the information and make sure that you understand it.
Overview
The U12 tournament will consist of two phases: round robin play and playoffs.
The winner of the boy's tournament and the winner of the girl's tournament will advance to the Area 2N tournament which will be held on December 6th & 7th in Foster city.
Coaches Meeting
A pre-tournament coaches meeting will be held in late October. The date/time/location of the meeting has not been determined yet.
This is a MANDATORY meeting. Failure to send a team representative will result in a one (1) point deduction during pool play. Don't forget to bring your player ratings to the meeting as there will be an additional point (1) deduction for teams that fail to turn them in at or prior to this meeting. Our apologies for the stick, but that is our only way of making sure this gets done.
General Comments
- Please keep the AYSO philosophies of Good Sportsmanship and Positive Coaching in mind during the tournament.
- Parents, friends, distant relatives etc. are the coach's responsibility. Please remind your parents that if they bring relatives & friends to the game that they need to behave in a respectfull manner.
- Alcohol and smoking are not allowed at AYSO events.
- Dogs, BBQs, food, sunflower seeds etc. (see the city signs posted at the fields) are not allowed on the synthetic all weather fields.
- The consequences and outcome for an abandoned or terminated match will be determined by the division coordinator, the head coach, the head referee, the CVPA, and the regional commissioner.
- Any other problems or issues that may arise will be resolved by the division coordinator, the head coach, the head referee, the CVPA, and the regional commissioner.
- All decisions are final and no protests will be allowed.
During round robin play each team will play every other team in Redwood City. Because of the large # of games, the game duration will be shortened and games will be scheduled in one hour intervals. You must have your team present and READY TO PLAY (at least 7 players, line up card ready, etc.) 10 minutes prior to the match. A forfeit will be declared if a team is unable to play (insufficient # of players, not checked in, no coach, no medical forms, etc.) at the scheduled start time.
- Matches will consist of two twenty (20) minutes halves.
- Half time will be 5 minutes and teams must return PROMPTLY to the field when summoned by the referee
- Substitutions will take place approximately midway throught the first and second halves and at half time
- Players are required to play 1/2 of every match (referees will enforce this)
- Players arriving late will be credited with having played each quarter that they are late
- A player may be a goalkeeper the entire match (provided that the substitution requirements are met)
- Coaches should be prepared for substitutions and not waste the player's playing time
- Referees, at their discretion, may add time for injury or lengthy substitutions
- Teams are not required to play down
- Matches can end in a tie
- The top four (4) teams (based on points) will go on to the playoffs
